The Zenit Automat (sometimes marked in cyrillic: ЗЕНИТ-автомат) is a Russian 35mm SLR, a late model in the Zenit series.
The body has aperture priority auto exposure, powered by 4 PX625 cells fitted under a door on the front panel, beside the lens. The electronically-controlled focal plane shutter runs from 1s - 1/1000s. The speed selector has four positions: A - automatic, B - bulb, X - flash sync and L - locked. Two stops over- and under-exposure compensation can be set using a dial around the rewind crank, combined with the film speed dial (in a similar way to the Canon A-1).
The lens is fitted using the Pentax K mount.
