Viewfinder cameras have just a simple viewfinder, sometimes with parallax correction marks. No control over the right distance selection is given through the viewfinder. Otherwise it would be a rangefinder camera. The focusing system of a viewfinder camera can be guess focusing or autofocus. If it's autofocus the camera would belong to the category point-and-shoot.
