Page title, and merge with Retina IIa[]

I would like to rename this page "Retina II", because the model name "Retina" was only used by Kodak. I would also like to merge the pages on the Retina II and Retina IIa, because there is some information overlap between these two pages. I'll do that soon if nobody disagrees. --rebollo_fr 13:14, 14 September 2010 (EDT)

Retina II Personal View[]

It is only when you handle these old cameras that you really begin to appreciate them. They feel lovely! The leather covering and the shape makes them so tactile. You are handling craftmanship, history and other people's stories which only the camera has witnessed. They are truly beautiful. So much more then their leatherette antecedents. I recently bought an old II to use as spares on another one. It turned out to have a 2.8 xenon lens rather than the Ektar 3.5 and, unlike the one for which it was supposed to be a donor, this one had the II of Retina without a surrounding circle. It makes collecting more fun to realize that you may buy two or three of the same model and all different. When I pluck up courage to post a picture again, I'll show you the differences in the same models. I have 1bs that are different too.

Someone should issue a health warning on Retinas though. They are highly addictive and you will need more to feed your addiction. I had 2, now I have 14 and I'm still looking. Fortunately, I stick to the 1s and 2s, the threes being overrated and over priced (in my opinion).

During the time of writing that last paragraph I found that I had bought another two. I wonder if they do patches!

Hello Laurie
Regarding your deep-hearted love for cameras we appreciate to have you in the project. The Retinas and Retinettes are really a miracle - really loved by those who own one with clear lens, tight bellows and a shutter with at least one still working shutter speed. They all usually forget all about their cupboard full of digicams and may be frustrated about the high price of the original expired Polaroid film for their other favourite toys. They just take a 2$ 35mm film cartridge, put it into their most beloved camera, and make a photo walk, portray their neighbours, enjoy the beauty of the World. Perhaps the miracle is: The Retinas are not like any other "made in Germany" cameras, they are Kodak. But I guess You fell not in Kodakery but in real love with these photographc jewels since they still have the power to let a coming million ISO Sony A77 look like a toy camera. Only true love to your Retinas may preserve you from the dangerous Becherbach syndrome. U. Kulick 11:05, January 30, 2011 (UTC)
