The Sony 300mm F2.8 G is a tele lens for the Sony system cameras with Minolta AF mount. It was developed in 2006 and is a very fast tele lens with silent "Supersonic Wave" autofocus motor. It can be focused manually even in autofocus mode when the camera's shutter release button is pressed halfways (DMF=direct manual focusing). Several operation mode switches are on the lens barrel. The lens weighs 2.3 kg. Therefore it has a tripod thread. The lens has 12 elements and an attachable filter element. It has a nine-blade aperture which can be stopped down to F32. Minimal image subject distance is 2 metres.
