Konica Minolta was created by the merger of Konica and Minolta in 2003. All new cameras created since then have got the Konica Minolta badge. One of the best new products of the company was the film scanner Scan Elite 5400 II . Another success was the production of lenses and digicam units for mobile phones.

Konica Minolta has announced in January 2006 that it would stop all their activities related to photography, such as camera design and production, analog or digital, as well as the development and production of film and photo paper. They will transfer their digital SLR know-how to Sony, who will develop DSLRs compatible with the Dynax/Maxxum system.

Cameras

Existing camera models from before the merger still had the previous badges of Konica or Minolta (some even got the Konica Minolta label) and are listed on the appropriate pages. The very first new models from after the merger got the Minolta badge, too, and are listed below. Since the merged company was a short episode in photo industry's history all of Konica Minolta's new and reworked cameras are listed.

Dynax/Maxxum/alpha

The Dynax/Maxxum (Maxxum in North America, alpha in Japan, Dynax elsewhere) lenses are Minolta's 35mm Autofocus SLR lenses.

The Dynax line of cameras are the line of cameras that use these lenses.

Lenses

Konica Minolta stayed in the camera lens business. It still offers compact zoom lenses with aspherical plastic lenses for small CCDs and zoom ranges from 6× to 25×, as well as light-weight mono-focal and zoom lenses for compact cameras. Especially the making of the miniature lens units for cell phone cameras will be continued in the future.
