EXIF - Exchangeable Image File Format is a format specification for storage of digital images, based on the JPEG and TIFF (r6.0) formats, and sounds in RIFF WAV file format.

EXIF Data is extended metadata included in a digital image file, detailing the camera manufacturer and model, taking date/time, exposure - shutter speed and aperture, the use of flash, picture size/units/resolution/colour representation etc.

Early digital cameras didn't support EXIF.
