The Canon EOS 5D, due to be released in October, will be the world's smallest, lightest full-frame digital SLR camera. It will feature a new 9-point autofocus with 6 invisible points, a large 2.5-inch high-resolution TFT LCD, and USB 2.0. The most impressive feature, however, is likely to be the enormous 12.8 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor which measures 24mm x 36mm, the same size as a 35mm negative.

The 5D will feature a new, rugged focal plane shutter rated for 100,000 shots. The vertically travelling shutter will reliably deliver up to 60 frames at 3 frames per second with the "JPG high quality" setting.
