CMOS (Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor) is a technology for making electronic devices, including processor chips and camera sensors. CMOS technology has taken over as image sensor technology in almost all fields from older CCD, offering far higher operating speeds, power consumption as well as image quality. All todays consumer cameras as well as mobile phone cameras use CMOS technology.
