The Semi Ako (セミアコー) is a Japanese 4.5×6 folder, copy of the Ikonta with a folding optical finder and a body release.
It is advertised in 1941[1] by a company called Ako Shōkai[2] (AKO商會 in old writing, with uppercase letters). Two authorized dealers are also mentioned: Nihon Shōkai and Mizuno Shashinki-ten (水野寫眞機店 in old writing). There is a choice of two lens/shutter combinations:
- an Ako Anastigmat 75mm f:4.5 lens and a 5–200, T, B shutter for ¥74;
- an Ako Anastigmat 75mm f:3.5 lens and a 1–300, T, B shutter for ¥98.
Kokusan kamera no rekishi does not mention any other advertisement than the one cited above, and neither McKeown nor the "Kamera nenkan" book by Sugiyama and Naoi list the Semi Ako. No example has been observed and it is not sure that it was ever sold.
